Simply Clean – DIY Solutions for a Naturally Clean Home

By now you’ve figured out that I don’t buy cleaners from the store. My cleaners of choice are white vinegar, baking soda, castile soap, and peroxide. I clean just about everything in the house with these three simple cleaners. I have a three-ring binder that I keep all my “recipes” in so that I can find them easily. I just like things on paper – that’s how I roll.

Each of my “recipes” are in a page protector so that I don’t worry about getting stuff spilled on them – because you probably know by now that my middle name is not Grace. I use my laundry detergent recipe a lot, so that’s why I put it on pretty paper. :-P  Making laundry detergent is a happy event. Don’t you wish you had a nice handy dandy notebook like this with all your cleaning recipes in one place? Well stand back friends, I’m about to rock your world with happiness.

My new friend Andrea, over at Frugally Sustainable has just come out with a book called Simply Clean – DIY Solutions for a Naturally Clean Home. Even though I already make a majority of my cleaners, I was tickled pink to buy this book at ONLY $6.95!!! Guys, that’s a total steal. Buy purchasing this book and making your own cleaners, you’ll make the money back lickety split! I make my cleaners because I don’t care to keep toxic chemicals around the house…..everything in this book is easily made at home – with easy to find, natural ingredients. The main ingredients Andrea uses are: borax, baking soda, super washing soda, white vinegar, castile soap, and essential oils and herbs. It can’t get any easier than that.

As soon as I bought this book, I printed it out and put it in my cleaning notebook – and I keep reading through it over and over. It’s AWESOME!!!!!!! There are cleaners for every room of the home: the kitchen, the bathroom, the laundry room, the floors and walls, and the windows and mirrors. The two things I’m most excited about are the dusting spray and the carpet cleaner. I don’t use this phrase lightly when I tell you that this book ROCKS MY FACE OFF!

So, do yourself a favor and buy this book at $6.95 to make your own cleaning notebook. You won’t be sorry. And I wouldn’t tell you about it if I didn’t love it myself. Because that’s how I roll.

  1. I am so glad you post if you are affiliated with a product or not. That is very honest of you. :) If you do not mind me asking. Where do you buy your castille soap? I have a place I usually order from but maybe yours is cheaper.

    • I like ordering online from Amazon – but I’ve also seen it at Target. I’m not sure who is cheaper. I’ve also found it on sale at the Natural Foods Market in Johnson City. :-)

Dusting spray!? Say it isn’t so? The book must be awesome if it has you making cleaning products for a chore you don’t do :)

  3. Glad to see your review — I saw this on Andrea’s blog and was considering buying it!

  4. i saw castille soap at walmart w/the bath soap. i didn’t price it, but i thought hmmmm…stacy uses that. lol

  5. I am going to send this over to my friend who just started trying to make her own cleaning supplies. I am in Argentina right now so a lot of this stuff isn´t readily available or nearly as cheap. When I get back to the states I will buy a copy for myself and my mama, who cleans houses and wastes way too much money on harsh cleaners!

  7. Food City has castile soap by the single bar…it’s the one with the white wrapper, but the name escapes me.

  8. I just purchased the eBook. I am really excited to start using the recipes listed in it. Thanks for letting us know it! :)
