Excuse Me, I Need to go to the Bathroom

I don’t get out much. Why? I’m a homebody…..no, not a homeboy. A HOMEBODY. I like being here at the house. There is a safe potty here. I’m really weird about public potties. How’s that for random? Since Annie has been born, we have not been to the movies. That’s just fine with me. We used to go a little bit before, but I hated it…..I couldn’t stand paying $6 each to watch a movie. And suffer through while the person beside me ate an entire large container of buttery goodness popcorn without offering me some. Scrooge.

We started getting NetFlix instead. I’m always excited to tell you guys about a good deal, so here’s another one of my “secrets.” We don’t rent videos…..we subscribe to NetFlix. We don’t have cable…..we subscribe to NetFlix in place of that. With NetFlix, the movies come right to our door. It’s like a drive-thru! Well, almost to our door. Our mailbox is a little bit away from the door, but you get the idea. We watch the video we requested, then we mail it back to them in a postage paid envelope……then we just wait for the next video to arrive. It’s like magic, I’m tellin’ ya. The first one we got, I was totally amazed. Especially since they pay to ship it back!

Ok, so here is how it works: you sign up to be a member of NetFlix. You can choose your package. We get the $9.99/month package. It lets us have one video at a time….and there is no limit to how many we can “rent.” We just do one, over and over and over and over…..you get the idea. You can sign up for packages that let you have more than one, but we didn’t need that. We don’t watch enough movies for that to be of a benefit. The movie comes to our door, we watch it, we send it back, the next one comes. You’ll have a queue where you choose videos and movies to be sent to you. They’ll come in the order that you specify. We always have about 20+ in our Queue, so we never run out. Any time we think we might like to see a movie, we check it on Plugged-In Online and then add it our Queue. It really is that easy. If I can do it, anyone can do it. My sister thinks I live in the technology Dark Ages.

So, there are TONS of movies on there. Any movie you can think of can be found there. You can’t get that same service at a movie rental place. They have movies, television shows, instructional videos, and workout videos. Just about anything you can think of is there. Go ahead, think of one……I’m waiting. If you want to watch Roots, this is the place to go.

There are tons of new things you can do with NetFlix. I, of course, don’t know most of them because I live in the technology Dark Ages. I do know that you can link NetFlix to your Wii. We don’t have a Wii, so I don’t really care about that. NetFlix also works with TiVo. I’m stretching myself a little bit on this one……I like to act like I know what I’m talking about, but I have no clue. If you want to know more about that, you’ll have to look on their website. Or ask Barry. He’s a genius.

One of my favorite features of NetFlix is the Watch Instantly option. They have tons of movies and television shows that you can watch on your computer. This does not count toward the ones you’re getting in the mail. So, you could get one in the mail and watch as many as you wanted on your computer. We have our computer linked up to the television so we can watch it on our bigger screen. Again, I have no clue how that works…….if you want to know, I can ask Barry. Like I said, he’s a genius. There are a lot of kid friendly options for the Watch Instant. Who needs cable????

I wasn’t paid by NetFlix to do this review. I just wanted to see if I could help you guys save some money. If you rent movies from NetFlix, you can pause them……you won’t miss something by getting up to go to the bathroom. Something about the movies makes me need to pee, even if I haven’t had anything to drink in hours. That’s the best reason for me! You can save money by staying at home, and maybe even cut out your cable bill. Think of how much you can save, and instead only spend $9.99 a month for movie entertainment! Oh, and we also use our Public Library to get videos. They get new ones in regularly, so we try to stop by when we can. It’s free. I love free. Now I need to go make some popcorn.

We do netflix too. The kids love all of the children’s movies on there. Brady will actually ask us to sign him into Netflix.
