Hi, I’m Stacy. I’m a wife and Mommy, a cook and baker, a budget-maker and frugal finder…and oh yeah, a blogger too. I live in Southwest Virginia where I spend the day brushing up on my country twang and taking care of my two kiddos (currently), my husband and my dog.

This is my personal blog where I talk about living a frugal life – a life free from debt. In 2011 our family became 100% debt free, including our home, before I was 30 years old. Now my husband Barry and I teach people to live free from the bondage of debt.

What will you find on Stacy Makes Cents? A little bit of everything is here: crock pot recipes, plain ole’ recipes, stories about my capers as a Mom, how to make things instead of buying them, how to clean your toilet. Mostly you’re going to be taking a daily walk with a debt-free, frugal, future-homeschooling Mama who just so happens to be married to a financial counselor. You’ll see how we live – bare and open…except with clothes on. We always wear clothes, for your eyes’ sake.

Our Mission Statement:

We aim to teach families to live on less than they make, live free from the bondage of debt, live well while eating well, and have fun while doing it – all for the glory of God.

Phillipians 4:11 “…for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

There are some things you WON’T see. I won’t be doing extensive posts on dusting. Neither will you find posts about washing windows, washing my car, singing, or cleaning the ceiling fan. I just don’t do that stuff. Who does? (PS – If you do, don’t tell me about it. Ignorance is bliss.)

Oh yeah – and our family embraces a whole-foods lifestyle. But we don’t go overboard. We try to maintain a sense of balance.  Christ is Lord – not food.

I generally post five times per week. On Friday I post a new whole-foods crock pot recipe. On Saturday Barry covers a financial topic – and you can submit your questions to him at any time. On other days I just post whatever I want – I like to surprise ya.

If you’d like to walk with me on this journey of a frugal life, please sign up to get my emails. I love it when y’all do that. It just makes me giddy – but don’t tell me you’ve done it …lest I get a big head and can no longer fit through the bathroom door. When you sign up to get my emails, you’ll also be emailed a free copy of Barry’s book – It’s Not About Money: A Guide to Living on a Budget (forms included).

And for your reading pleasure, here are my top posts from 2013. Yeah – make those fajitas like yesterday.

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to give me a holler. Just use the Contact tab at the top of the blog. Be sure to check me out on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram.  Everybody’s doing it. ;0)
