Pick Pocket Tacos
So, let it be said that I totally get the fanny pack thing. I’m not going to wear one, but I get it. I don’t really want any excess stuff hanging around my middle – in fact, don’t most people spend time trying to get RID of excess baggage around the waist? But anyway, I get why you would want your money and personal belonging attached to your body in your front. Because really, no one is going to start messing with your front and YOU NOT NOTICE.
I always have this lingering fear in the back of my head when we go somewhere in a large crowd that I’m going to be pick-pocketed. I usually wear a back pack with all the kids’ stuff in it – and how easy would that be to open and take off with my baby butt wipes? Come back, diaper thief! So, anyway…fanny packs make sense to me, even if I don’t wear them…I’m having flashbacks to the 80s, y’all. [Read more…]

Crock Pot Teriyaki Boston Butt
I think I shall rename this post and call it: Don’t – stuff you shouldn’t do when trying to make a blog post.
1. Don’t make a blog post about butt.
Why? Because well, there are entirely too many jokes to be made about a big butt. Case in point: Fat on your butt. There’s a bone in your butt. Juicy butt. Rub your butt with honey. Make sure it’s big enough to fit your butt in. A little butt rub makes everything better. I’ll stop while I am ahead. [Read more…]
Save Money On Heating Costs (Without Freezing Your Bottom Off)
Here’s how I know I’m getting older:
- I keep finding these frizzy, gray hairs. I’m only 32, y’all!! Is this normal??
- Also, I the other day I found myself daydreaming about horticulture, and longing to visit some flower museum to admire all the species of flowers, which for most of my life have been very boring!
- Finally, I constantly say, “Is there a draft in here? I’m freezing. Are you freezing?”
But seriously, y’all. It IS C.O.L.D. here. This is North Carolina. I didn’t sign up for 16 degree (F) wind chill!!
If you’re like me, when you get that heating bill in the mail, you cringe and wonder if they put the decimal in the wrong place. No one wants to spend $500 a month just to stay warm! Do they?? How to save money on heating and cooling costs is a constant question in the winter. Let’s go through some good options (view website for more options). You can also contact popular HVAC services in Terrell for HVAC guidance and options.
Keeping the thermostat low can definitely save you money. Some estimate that lowering it by 3-4 degrees can you save you about 10% a month. But once you’ve turned that thermostat down, how can you stay warm? Aside from relying on your heating installation, here are my tips to stay warm in a freezing cold house. You can find more info > on heating options online or call to replace your ac unit for your home in Holladay, UT. Everyone has a comfort food or foods from their childhood. For you it might be Eggo Waffles…or sausage gravy…or chicken and dumplings…or circus peanuts. You know, I have it on good authority that if you eat too many circus peanuts when you’re little, that you might not be able to even look at them 30 years later. Or so I hear from OTHER PEOPLE. *Cough* Maybe that’s how I can cure all my children from wanting candy – let them eat it until they puke. Yep – good plan.
But anyway, for me that food is Pimento Cheese. And I’m not talking about the goop from the store labeled “pimento cheese.” Blech! No sir. I mean, my Mama’s Pimento cheese. There are tons of homemade pimento cheese recipes out there, but I’m here to tell you that THIS is the best one. I’ve already blessed you all with several of my awesome Mama’s recipes: Mama’s Sausage Macaroni or Mama’s Tomato Soup. Today we’re tackling her Pimento Cheese – because it’s my goal in life to feed the world! [Read more…]
3 Ingredient Crock-pot Bean Dip
Like Stacy, I love my crock pot. The crock pot is convenient, the crock pot is handy, the crock pot is economical, and I could go on and on, but I will stop before I bore you. In our house we have the following sized slow cookers: a 7 quart, a 6 quart, a 4.5 quart, maybe a 3 quart (my dad just gave to my 7 year old), 2-2 quarts (I had to buy one to use when we were road trippin’ to save money because I left mine at home), and 2 Little Dippers (bonus that I wouldn’t have bought myself). I’ll sometimes have 3 crock pots going all at the same time with things like yogurt in one, refried beans in one, and granola or practically free chicken broth in another. In fact I post two Slow Cooker Saturday recipes a month. Just call me Slow Cookin’ Sonja I tell ya’. [Read more…]
No Junk – No Peek Chicken
You know how you see those recipes all over Pinterest and the Internet and store magazines? The ones that have the easy chicken dish – the one with rice mixed with a bunch of cream-of-whoknowswhat soups and onion soup mix? Then you put the chicken on top and it’s all done in one hour? It’s like some kind of Amazing Super Duper Kitchen Meal!
Well, I won’t lie. I always skipped over those recipes in the magazines and church cookbooks. Because really, I don’t buy those things any more. I move right on to the recipes calling for bacon or chocolate…or bacon AND chocolate. But today, today my friends, we are going to CONQUER THE CHICKEN DISH!!!! Step aside cream-of-whoknowswhat. Stacy is in town. [Read more…]
Oatmeal – 50 Ways to Eat It
It should come as no surprise that I love oats. Hardly a day passes where I don’t have it in some shape or fashion, be it in traditional oatmeal, smoothies, or granola. Speaking of “passes,” ahem – you should be eating it more often if you’re having problems with “passes.” Hahahahahaha! Oatmeal recipes are everywhere, but not all of them are good…let’s just be honest.
Is there such a thing as too many oatmeal recipes? NO! I even have oatmeal as its own Pinterest board.

With the popularity of my 100 Days of No Processed Foods: Crock Pot Style post, I’ve realized there is a huge need and desire for crock pot recipes that don’t call for pre-packaged foods. When glancing through Pinterest, it’s evident that most crock pot recipes call for mixes, boxes, and cans of stuff from the grocery store. That’s why I so enjoy posting wholesome, whole-food crock pot recipes each Friday.
I got an idea in my head that wouldn’t go away. I have a dream – my dream is a huge list and resource of crock pot desserts that don’t call for cake mix, pudding, and canned pie mix. Did you know that before today, there isn’t such a list (at least not one that I can find). Well, BOOYA, BABY! I spent hours compiling this list for you. And it was a lot of fun hours, because as we all know, I love list making. [Read more…]
