Crock Pot Taco Meat
I wanted a taco salad. Actually, I want taco salads on a regular basis. However, it was going to be a busy afternoon and I knew I wouldn’t have time to fix tacos later in the day. I had time right after lunch, so I threw this together. And let me tell you something – it is GOOD. Of course, I have a heart for tacos. Do you have a heart for tacos? Of course you do honey. Make this. [Read more…] |
Raisin Sauce
We LOVE pancakes around the Myers house. We eat them at least once a week, sometimes more. I’m always looking for something to put on top of them – maple syrup is our favorite, but sometimes we like a switch up. So, I made this raisin sauce using pantry items and it was a total hit! Annie licked up every bite…..and so did her mama. [Read more…] |

Easy Baked Oatmeal
Without a doubt, one of the most popular recipes on this site is my Baked Oatmeal….and rightly so. It’s deliciousness on a plate. It makes your taste buds sing. It makes your kids scream OATMEAL! It makes your dog beg. It makes you…well, it makes you regular. What more can you ask for in a breakfast food? Nothing I tell ya!
Well, I wanted to update my old recipe because of the quick oats and sugar issue. I only buy rolled oats in bulk now (they go through less processing) and I don’t use brown sugar anymore.
So, I played around in the kitchen a bit….okay, so I played around in the kitchen a lot. Let me just tell you, I made about 123,981,273 flops with this one. Why mess with something that’s already good? Well, to make it better. Except, my better was a long time coming.

When our family cut out most of our caffeine we then switched to decaf coffee. It resulted in several weeks of headaches for Barry and me. First we went to half-caf and had headaches about two weeks. Then we switched to 100% decaf and had another two weeks of headaches. But now we’re feeling fine! It’s sorta scary when you think about it. I told Barry I felt like a drug addict.Coffee is one of my morning enjoyments. I love smelling it brewing and I love pouring a steaming cup. It just makes breakfast seem right. However, being on decaf coffee can be hard if you’re out and about. When you ask people if they have decaf, they always give you this strange, bizarre look. “No, I don’t think so.” I know they’re thinking, “you look too young to be drinking decaf.” And when I order decaf at restaurants I always wonder if they REALLY brought me decaf or if they just pour everyone a cup out of the same pot. Things that make you go hmmmmmm. Or for that matter, was my burger formerly on the floor in the kitchen? It’s best just not to ponder on these things. [Read more…] |
Crock Pot Spicy Hamburger Goulash
I made this Spicy Hamburger Goulash one night for my parents because they were watching Annie while I had a workshop close to their house…..they said it was too spicy. Annie wouldn’t eat it. She said it was “hot.” Barry and I thought it was just right…..and I didn’t even need a hanky. If you don’t want it spicy, you can just cut back on the amount of chili powder. This is a very versatile recipe because you can vary the spices and beans as you like. You could even add corn if you want to. My parents are pansies when it comes to hot food – but I love them anyway. [Read more…] |
Honey Oat Bread
I’ve been wanting to have my “own” bread recipe for a while now. I’ve dabbled here and there with several recipes, but I wasn’t completely crazy about any of them. I liked certain things in this recipe and certain things in that recipe……so I dabbled a little myself in my kitchen and came up with this bread. And man oh man – it’s a winner!
But I should tell you, before you have a winner you have several flops…..or in this case, several flat loaves of bread. Disks. Hockey pucks. Door stops. Croutons. And then came this glorious Honey Oat Bread. It makes the house smell wonderful. It makes me smell wonderful. It is just stinking GOOD. This is now my “go to” bread recipe. It makes great sandwiches and the flavor has just a hint of sweetness. Yummy! [Read more…]
Kitchen Tip Tuesday – 10/18/11
I hate having ice cubes in my drinks. Mostly because it waters stuff down.If you can’t drink it fast enough, it eventually tastes super yucky. I don’t even like having ice cubes in my water……even though it’s impossible to water down water. Let’s just clear the air – me and ice cubes don’t get along. When I take a drink, they move around and I end up getting a bath….in public. Totally embarrassing. But, sometimes I have a bit of coffee or tea left and I don’t want to throw it out. What’s a girl to do? [Read more…] |
